Public School Education
Send one rescued child to school for a year. Sponsorship includes: School uniform, sports uniform, shoes, backpack, stationery and school fees (please note: attending a public school is free, however fees are charged for sitting exams and transferring records from any previous school). AU $100
After-School Private Tutorials
Most rescued children have missed years of schooling and have a long way to go to catch up to their peers. By attending afterschool tutorials, they can catch up on what they’ve missed and achieve an excellent education. AU $40/month
Lunches for School Students
Malnutrition can stunt a child’s development and inhibit their ability to concentrate in school – which then prevents them from achieving the education they need to break free from poverty. Feed a rescued child a delicious, filling, hot, nutritious lunch every week-day for a year and empower them to succeed in life. AU $350
Transport to Keep Rescued Children Safe
In Siem Reap, the children aren’t even safe to walk on the streets, in broad daylight, in groups! Children are being kidnapped in such circumstances and good parents refuse to let their children out of the house. In order to get the children to school, or to the drop-in centre for vocational training, we need to provide transport.
AU $10/week for a motorbike to take two children to school each day.
AU $25/week for a van to bring 15 children to the drop-in centre for vocational skills, life skills, food and aid.
In Cambodia, drowning is the leading cause of injury death in children aged 1- 4 years (World Health Oganisation). Prevent drownings by sponsoring a 2-hour swimming lesson for 20 rescued children. Lessons cover 4 topics:
- Water Safety: If you fall in, how to get out.
- Floating and treading water.
- Beginner swimming strokes.
- Advanced swimming strokes.
By the end of the first lesson, most children can swim the width of the pool and safely climb out. All children can fall into the water, get to the side and climb out. Some children will be swimming freestyle comfortably. The children thoroughly enjoy the play time at the end of the lesson and some have even said that the Swimming lesson was their favourite activity ever! Sponsorship includes: Transporting village children to the pool, pool entry fee, lifeguard wage, bottles of water and a hot, nutritious meal for each child at the end of the lesson. AU $260
Many job vacancies in Cambodia require applicants to be able to speak English. The rich send their children to after-school English lessons for $50/month, which simply widens the gap between the job opportunities available to the rich, which are not available to the poor. Rescued children can learn English for free at our drop-in centre, equipping them with a valuable job skill for the future and giving them the same opportunity as the rich. Lessons are free, but your support can help transport the children to the class and pay the teacher’s wage.
Rescued children can learn how to play the guitar, keyboard or drums at the Drop-in Centre. Sponsorship includes teacher’s wage, required equipment and transport. AU $30/month
